VESC™ Online Course Special Education - Inclusion

Inclusion of special education students in the regular classroom is a challenge being faced by teachers in nearly every school system in the nation. The VESC™ online course Special Education-Inclusion addresses some of the core issues facing teachers who instruct students with special educational needs in the regular classroom.

The VESC™ online course Special Education-Inclusion focuses on creating a learning environment that supports the educational progress of special education students in a regular classroom, as well as provides guidance on specific strategies for teaching curriculum content. Other topics include working with parents and behavior management. This course provides members of co-teaching teams opportunities to reflect on, and adapt their current practice to ensure they are maximizing their effectiveness in meeting the needs of the students they teach.

This online course provides in-depth exercises, reflective questions, readings, and external information resources to make learning engaging and meaningful. As they engage in the various activities that comprise the online course, the participants use a variety of interactive strategies; these strategies are simple, but highly structured. These same strategies are to be used with students in the classroom to develop their communication and higher-order thinking skills.
