Noteworthy Achievements Among VESC K-12 Schools Nationwide

 

In collaborative efforts with school personnel, the Ventures Initiative and Focus system approach has led to:

Increases in graduation, college enrollment rates,

and scholarship monies

 

  • Three Navajo Reservation students were selected, for the first time, to attend summer school at Oxford University in England; and, 100 Navajo students from the 7th to 12th grades were invited to participate in highly competitive summer academic programs across the country -- many in top eastern prep schools.

  • All seniors in one school in the Delta Region of Arkansas enrolled in four-year colleges.

  • At one school, 9 Navajo high school seniors, with top grade point averages and high SAT and ACT test scores, received Chief Manuelito Scholarships of $25,000 over five years. (No school had ever had so many recipients.) One student was invited to attend both Stanford and MIT.

  • In one New York City high school, graduates receiving diplomas, as a result of passing rigorous Regents exams, increased from 19% to 29%.

  • College scholarship monies for the Arkansas network of schools increased from $312,896 to $988,224.

  • At one Bronx high school, students were offered nearly $8 million in scholarship awards and financial aid.
