Award-winning principals and teachers

A Brooklyn intermediate school principal, who had failed to gain the support of her faculty, was able to reverse the situation and went on to receive a mayoral award of special recognition for leadership.

Five Arkansas high school math teachers and 3 intermediate science teachers were honored in statewide competitions.

Six teachers received the prestigious Walter N. Rothschild, Jr. Teacher of the Year Award in recognition of their contributions in successfully implementing the Ventures Initiative and Focus™ approach to student-centered learning, and for inspiring their students to greater learning, performance, and achievement.

One Arkansas math teacher received the Arkansas Power and Light's Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award. Another received the Mathematical Association of America's High School Teacher of the Year Award.

One New York intermediate school librarian received a special award from the Public Education Association after she reorganized the school's library as an educational resource center with computers linked to the Internet.
